THE BUILDING OF THE LIBERATION DAILY
( USED TO BE YAN TONGCHUN RESIDENCE)
Yan Tongchun residence was designed by lin ruiji and was
constructed in 1933. it is a three-storey residential house
combines Chinese and western architectural styles in brick
masonry structure. it covers an area of 2, 272 square meters. the
constructing area of main house is up to 4,589 square meters,
while it is 616 square for the affiliated part. the graphic layout was
alike to a Chinese Siheyuan with halls in the middle and
surrounded by wing-rooms on sides. though it has a Siheyuan
layout, all the functions, building materials and indoor equipments
had been westernized. on the southern ground floor, there are
gatehouse and reception room built along the street.
Tongchun residence contains 71 rooms inside with individual
functions yet can be connected by a cloister.
